Session Description
This PDW asks: what topics could form an important focus for future
research on the employment relationship? We will provide an opportunity
for the panelists and audience to step back from the immediate pressures
of their current research agenda, and talk instead about the areas of
research concerning employment relationships that we see as growing in
importance over the next ten years. We hope that such a conversation can
both spur new ideas for research in human resources and related fields,
and help maintain the ongoing correspondence between research topics and
the evolving nature of employment. Our panelists have been at the
forefront of work on topics such as the decline of long term employment,
downsizing, contingent work, the integration of employment with broader
firm strategy, and the effects of worker mobility.
The PDW will be interactive with brief thoughts from the panel, followed
by roundtable breakouts engaging all participants in developing promising
topics, and exploring how to integrate them into our research. We will
then have a brief wrap up conversation.
We ask participants to pre-register to facilitate organization of
breakouts
