    Special Issue
The end of personnel? Variety in employment –
    characteristics, prerequisites, consequences.

In the past organisations mainly used standard employment to turn people into personnel and HR-specialists played a major role in this. Currently, there seems to be a twofold change: first, towards a greater variety in the employer-employee-relationships with organisations more often using capacities of people that formally do not belong to the company; second, the existence of HR-departments in organisations sometimes is challenged and human resource activities are devolved to line managers or outsourced.

This special issue addresses the diversity of employment and their respective characteristics, their individual, organisational, and societal premises and consequences, including changes in the role of HR-departments.

We invite contributions that deal with but are not limited to questions such as:
What are consequences that changes in employment have for human resource management, organisations, individuals, and society?
What are consequences for the production of goods or services and organisational performance?
What is the value ascribed to traditional human resource management in this changed situation?
How are individual careers influenced by these changes in employment?
How different or equal are employment, their premises and consequences across countries?
Which theories are useful for analysing changes and the changed situation in employment?

    Deadline
Full papers must be with the editors by August 31st 2008. All contributions will be subject to a double-blind review. Papers invited to a 'revise and resubmit' are due December 31st 2008. Please submit your papers electronically to astrid.reichel@wu-wien.ac.at using as subject "Management Revue SI". Potential contributors are encouraged to contact the guest editors directly with the synopses of their papers before the deadline of the first drafts.

We are looking forward to your contributions
