    Dear Colleagues,

     

    As an Asian member of the Academy of Management community, have you ever wanted to get feedback on a research idea from your colleagues, but been too afraid to speak up? Have you wondered how some scholars are able to write and publish their ideas in the most elegant manner? Have you pondered where you would lead your academic career as faculty member? And, are you ready to be inspired by listening to world-class scholars share their research journey with you, and to inspire others with yours?

     

    If your answer is yes to any of these questions, the following professional development workshop (PDW) at the Academy may be right for you.

     

    You are cordially invited to an All-Academy PDW titled "When West Meets East: Challenges and Adjustment Issues for Asian Members of the Academy" (Sunday, August 14th, 2011 11:30am – 1:30pm). World-class faculty members will first present their perspectives on what are the challenging aspects of being an Asian management scholar. Participants will then have the opportunity to share their ideas with a theme pot that they find most interesting and personally relevant. We will then regroup to share our ideas on how to tackle these adjustment issues. The PDW will also provide a unique opportunity for participants to foster relationships with other scholars in the field, and to build a community to help each other thrive. Overall, I expect the PDW to last for 2 hours.
