Junior scholars are often faced with multiple and oftentimes unexpected challenges in their career. The academic job market has become increasingly international and competitive institutional requirements for a research position or a tenured position have also become increasingly complex. Inspired by the AoM meeting theme "Informal Economy", this year "CAR Early Academic Career Consortium" provides a forum for final year doctoral students and junior faculty to meet, connect, learn from each other informally. We are especially interested to unite scholars from a broad range of cultures and institutions. Our speakers are a group of distinguished and experienced international faculty, who will share insights on the following three topics: (1) How to get access to formal and informal resources that help you to master your career in these initial stages? (2) How to recruit a mentor? (3) Applying for your first academic post: Key issues and concerns? (4) Academic productivity: What can we learn from our role models? (5) How to prepare your application for tenure and promotion and/or other institutional evaluations?
