Subject: AOM Member Award Nominations - Deadline Extended!
Dear Colleagues:
I am writing to you with an important request for your participation in
the Academy of Management Awards program. As a primarily volunteer
organization, it is considered particularly appropriate and important to
provide opportunities for members to gain recognition for their
outstanding contributions to the Academy and to the field of management.
The AOM Member Awards Committee for 2007-2008 is currently accepting
nominations for several awards, and we are counting on you to help us
identify potential honorees. I invite you to review the criteria for
each award, and nominate a worthy colleague in each category:

course of a career, significant contributions in one or more of the
following areas: developing doctoral students, teaching effectively,
fostering pedagogical innovations, and developing effective methods,
structure and designs.
2. Distinguished Scholar-Practitioner Award - This award
recognizes, over the course of a career, significant contributions in
one or more of the following areas: successful application of theory or
research in practice and/or contributes to knowledge through extraction
of learning from practice, authored scholarly works which have
substantively affected the practice of management, integration of
research and practice, and the respect of one's work by both
practitioners and academics.
3. Distinguished Service Award - This award recognizes, over a
course of a career, significant contributions in one or more of the
following areas: enhancing a field of study, founding or creatively
editing a scholarly journal, and unusually effective service to a major
professional institution.
4. Scholarly Contributions to Management Award - This award
recognizes, over the course of a career, significant contributions in
one or more of the following areas: conceptual, empirical, or a

The deadline for nominations has been extended until April 30, 2008. To
submit your nominations, please contact the chair of the Member Awards
Committee, Rick Mowday (
rmowday@uoregon.edu).
I strongly urge your participation in this process. Recognizing our
deserving colleagues is an important way for us to appreciate their
career achievements and to create role models for future generations.
On behalf of the Board of Governors, thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely,
Tom Lee
AOM President
