    Dear Careers Division Colleagues

Please note that the new Diversity and Inclusion Theme Committee (D&ITC) is Offering Several Great Sessions during the AoM meeting in San Antonio!

Inclusion: There are two events on Inclusion in the AOM!

The first session is a panel discussion, to be held on Friday, Aug 12 2011 1:00PM - 3:00PM at Grand Hyatt in Lone Star D, and will include a subset of eight leaders from five divisions and the AOM governing board.  This session will focus on discussing inclusion-related efforts in the BPS, HR, OB, GDO, and International divisions as well as AOM as a whole.

The second session, on Sunday, Aug 14 2011 11:30AM - 2:30PM at San Antonio Convention Center in Room 217 D, will occur in a town hall format with 13 topic tables facilitated by a broad array of faculty from institutions all over the world.  The intent of this town hall on inclusion is to identify barriers to inclusion in AOM as well as specific actions to facilitate inclusion.

Race Relations: In the workshop "Let's Get Real about Racism" Lee, Mun Wah from Stir Frys Seminar and Consulting the focus is on confronting some of the issues that keep people from talking to one another about race/racism.  This workshop will emphasize the discovery of new ways to begin the conversation, create a bridge to talk about differences, explore what opens people up and closes them down, and finally, look at 101 ways to become culturally competent in relationships and workplaces. Friday, Aug 12 2011 2:00PM - 4:00PM at Grand Hyatt in Texas Ballroom A.

The Africa Academy of Management invites AOM members to participate in this PDW on "The Landscape of Management Education and State of Scholarship in Africa: Enlightenment for the East and West." The intent of the PDW is to share with members the state of management education and scholarship in Africa with the intent of exposing them to unique opportunities for research and supporting management education on the continent. Friday, Aug 12 2011 8:00AM - 11:30AM at Grand Hyatt in Lone Star A.

Action Learning in Action will demonstrate the use of Action Learning as a powerful problem-solving group process tool that can promote transformational learning in a variety of settings. It includes an interactive demonstration, as well as brief presentations on the technique's successful application in both classroom and business environments. Action Learning is a group process design that develops teamwork that honors diversity in the context of both the classroom and competitive business environments. Saturday, Aug 13 2011 8:00AM - 10:00AM at Grand Hyatt in Presidio B.

We hope to see you at some of these great sessions.
