    Dear Career Netters:

Please be sure to attend the Careers Division's Theme Session, "The Questions We Ask about Authenticity and Attainability:  How do Values and Beliefs Influence our Career Decisions?"   (organized by former Careers Division chair, Sherry E. Sullivan) on Tuesday, August 12 from 2:30 to 3:50 pm in the Hilton Anaheim, Capistrano A.

This session features an interactive panel discussion
with leaders from the fields of Careers, Organizational Behavior and Gender and Diversity examining what authenticity means to our careers, our organizations, and our work lives.

    Our speakers include:

Tim Hall, author of "The Career is Dead-Long Live the Career"  and Winner of the Career Division's Hughes Lifetime Scholarly Achievement Award, discussing authenticity and the protean career.

Bill Gardner, Rawls Professor in Leadership and Director of the Institute for Leadership Research at Texas Tech University,
discussing  assessing one's leader (or mentor) and one's leadership style  with the goal of preserving one's career authenticity in the process and how leaders  (or mentors)  can create authenticity for their followers.

    S. Gayle Baugh, former Gender and Diversity in Organizations Division Chair and the Editor of Research in Careers, discussing
authenticity in the context of developmental relationships between demographically different individuals.

After the AOM conference, we plan to continue the discussion started in this session via internet. Also, we hope individuals interested in the topic will consider submitting proposals for the forthcoming volume in the Research in Careers series which will focus on career authenticity.
