"What Matters Most"
A Proposed PDW on Assessing and Applying Individual Values
(apologies for cross-posting)
Dear Colleagues:
I am interested in putting together a PDW for the 2014 AOM pre-conference on how to help people identify their values and then work with them for developmental and/or actionable purposes. I am mainly interested in how this occurs in group settings such as graduate classrooms, seminars, etc. as that is the setting where many of us are most likely to make an impact.
Primarily I am eager to explore different methods for eliciting individual values such as "paper & pencil" tests, narrative techniques, card sort, case study, etc. Hopefully the PDW will allow time to demonstrate these techniques as well as discuss their advantages relative to one another.
Values are of course not field-exclusive. It may be that the PDW could show unique ways to help participants surface and work with values in unique topical areas such as career development, leadership, ethics, etc. I envision this PDW as being sponsored by the Careers Division, with possible partner divisions such as GDO, HR, MSR, OB, SIM, or others. Please write me with interest and with specific areas you would be interested in contributing to such a PDW.
Thanks,
