The initial stages of an academic career present junior scholars with multiple and oftentimes unexpected challenges. Indeed, while the academic job market has become increasingly competitive, institutional requirements for tenure have also become increasingly complex. Inspired by the AoM meeting theme "West Meets East: Enlightening, Balancing, Transcending", this year's "CAR Early Academic Career Consortium" provides a forum for final year doctoral students and junior faculty to meet, connect and learn from each other. We are especially interested to unite scholars from a broad range of cultures and institutions. Our speakers are a group of distinguished and experienced international faculty who will share insights on the following three topics: (a) Applying for your first academic post: Key issues and concerns? (b) Academic productivity: What can we learn from our role models? (c) How to prepare your application for tenure, promotion and/or other institutional evaluations.
