Participants Needed for Research Study on Academic Job Interviews

  • 1.  Participants Needed for Research Study on Academic Job Interviews

    Posted 09-03-2015 13:23
We are researchers at Washington State University who are studying the experiences of individuals on the academic job market.

Participants will receive $10 for completing an initial baseline survey, $20 each time they complete confidential online surveys before and after an on-campus interview, and $5 for completing a follow-up survey once they have been informed of the final outcome of each interview. We will have no contact with participants' employers, and we take a number of measures to protect participants' privacy.

We are seeking your help in identifying potential participants. We seek a diverse sample, including job candidates from a variety of academic disciplines. We also seek participants who are diverse in age, race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and religious identity.

What are the requirements for participation? Participants must:
    • Have received at least one invitation from a search committee for a tenure-track or tenured academic position to interview on campus and give a job talk at an institution in the United States
    • Plan to accept the invitation and make the visit
    • Be at least 18 years old
We would be grateful for your help in forwarding this message to people who you think might be eligible for participation in our study. If you are interested in learning more about the study, please contact Dr. Kristen Jones (360-546-9716, wsujobmarketstudy@gmail.com) or visit our study webpage (http://research.vancouver.wsu.edu/organizational-diversity-and-inclusion-lab/academic-interview-study).

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Sincerely,
