Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that the Career Division (CAR) will again organize a "Careers Doctoral Consortium" for Doctoral Students as part of the pre-conference activities at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting. The goal of this consortium is to help doctoral students in their final phases of their doctoral programs to prepare them for the job marked and future careers. We aim to help you to make the most of your doctoral program, advance your research, consider how best to publish your dissertation or parts thereof, find a job in the academic or professional world, and, perhaps most importantly, establish professional networks with colleagues. Please forward this message to your junior colleagues and doctoral students.

Doctoral and PhD students are often faced with multiple and oftentimes unexpected challenges in their career. The academic job market has become increasingly international, and competitive institutional requirements for a research and teaching position or post-doc position have also become increasingly complex. This year "CAR Doctoral Consortium" provides a forum for doctoral students to meet, connect, and learn from each other informally.
We are especially interested in uniting scholars from a broad range of cultures and institutions. Our speakers are a group of distinguished senior as well as junior international faculty. They will share insights on the following six topics: (1) How to get access to formal and informal resources that help you to master your early academic career (2) How to recruit a mentor. (3) Applying for your first academic post: Key issues and concerns. (4) Academic productivity: How to publish PhD work. What can we learn from our role models? (5) How to prepare your application for tenure and promotion and institutional evaluations. (6) Academic life: How to juggle the demands of academic life for a sustainable career.
The consortium will include presentations and interactive discussion sessions with faculty members as well as breakfast. It has been designed to allow for high levels of interaction between faculty and students. In order to maintain a high faculty/student ratio, space for this consortium is strictly limited. Please apply using the following link to fill out your details. After reviewing your details we will send you an email if you have secured a place in the consortium. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PDWCareerDoctoralConsortiumAOM2015
The deadline for enrolling is due by 24th of July, 2015. However, we will be doing rolling admissions, so earlier applications are highly encouraged as the number of participants is limited.
Best wishes,
