NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY'S DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTANCY invites applications for Director of Leadership Development in its Master of Accounting Science (MAS) program. Working with the Departments of Accountancy and Management, the Director will design and implement a leadership development program to enhance and build upon the academic experiences of our MAS students. Using leadership assessment, competency assessment, and behavioral assessment tools, students will develop and implement a specific development plan for the year – deepening their academic experience and ensuring that they are well grounded in general leadership practices.
Qualifications include:
• Graduate degree (Ph.D. preferred) in management, accounting, or leadership is preferred; or, bachelors degree with a minimum of 10 years experience in a leadership position in a complex organization (including a University); proven leadership skills; experience managing and developing people, providing feedback and performance evaluations; human resource experience (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, strategic planning for talent development, etc.) preferred;
• Experience developing and implementing high-quality professional development programs preferred;
• Experience coaching business professionals and leaders preferred;
• A flexible thinker who understands the chief metric is student achievement;
• Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial academic environment;
• Flexible, able to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed, with a strong work ethic.
Preference will be given to individuals with experience in the accounting profession.
