Apologies for Cross-Postings
Dear All, We would like to invite you to consider attending our PDW on: "Where in the World? A Guide to International Academic Careers and Opportunities" PDW at AOM Boston, Friday, Aug 3 2012 1:00PM - 3:00PM at Boston Park Plaza in Berkeley & Clarendon Room.
The speakers involved in this innovative, inclusive and interactive PDW panel symposium will present a range of career-relevant issues that will assist academics who are thinking of an academic teaching or research role, sabattical or career outside their home country. Panellists from Asia, Africa, North and South Americas, Europe, India, and the UK will give an overview of the employment situation and academic prospects in their current country and highlight the key aspects of teaching and research in that country. The panellists will give a rundown of recruitment and selection processes in their country and give tips for how to maximise an international application. Panellists will be compare and contrast those factors against other countries in which they have been scholars. Panellists will be experienced academics who have lived and worked in more than one country. While their experiences will reflect some of the shocks and surprises of their international experiences, the aim of the session is for participants to gain insights into international academic employment opportunities. Panellists include mid-career and senior academics so attendees in the early stage of their career will benefit from speakers with a good range of experience as well as recent insights. This workshop will be particularly helpful to those academics thinking of visiting, teaching or research in another country, either soon or perhaps "one day". The panellists will address both early and mid-career international academic moves as well as the full range of academic roles, from visiting scholar to full tenured roles. Speakers are:
Monique Valcour; EDHEC Business School;
Achim Krausert; Nottingham U. Business School China;
