Dear colleagues,
My student, Donna Sloan, is working on her dissertation focused on variables affecting Latino and Latina perspectives on career advancement. She needs input from a few experts as part of a preliminary study. Please see below, and let her know (E-mail: donnasloan@sloanperformancesolutions.com) if you fit her requirements and can participate. Both she and I would greatly appreciate it! Many thanks!
Regards,

Hello,
I am completing dissertation research as part of my doctoral program in industrial-organizational psychology in the Marshall Goldsmith School of Management at Alliant International University in San Diego. This important study is designed to increase awareness of thoughts and behaviors associated with career decisions in the Latino Workforce. There has been very little career research conducted within this population and I would very much like to begin closing that gap. As part of this study, I am also conducting a separate project that will identify what "career advancement" actually is. The variables that are identified in this study will then be used in the final dissertation research project. I am asking for your help in this initial fact gathering work.
If you are a Latino or Latina individual who helps others identify a direction in their careers (e.g., career counseling, executive or management placement, executive coaching, etc.) then I would greatly appreciate your help. Participation in this study entails three separate online sessions that should not take you any longer than 20 minutes each. The first session will consist of brainstorming where all of the participants (separately) list their thoughts on what career advancement means. I will then put all of the results together and send them out to you again. You will then have a chance to see what everybody else wrote (anonymously of course). In that round, you will be asked to narrow your ideas down further based on what others have contributed. Finally, I will again send out the accumulated results at which time you will be asked to rank order your top three choices. These will be used in my dissertation as the outcome variables.
If you are interested in participating or have questions, please e-mail me at donnasloan@sloanperformancesolutions.com or call me at 925-439-6421 no later than May 9th. (You can also contact my dissertation committee chair, Dr. Bernardo M. Ferdman, tel. 858-635-4408, e-mail: bferdman@alliant.edu with any questions.)
Please feel free to forward this e-mail on to anybody else whom you feel might be (or know) an appropriate participant.
Thank you for your time and interest!
Donna Sloan
