    Dear colleagues,

We cordially invite you to our PDW session "Thrive!  Energizing ourselves and others as academics (5th annual)."

    Friday, Aug 10 2018
    3:15PM - 5:15PM
Sheraton Grand Chicago (Sheraton Ballroom IV)

    Invited Distinguished Scholars
    Sandra Ohly, University of Kassel
    Nancy Rothbard, University of Pennsylvania

In this PDW, we draw from current research on energy and thriving to learn how we can create energy and thriving in ourselves and in others in our academic careers, thus increasing our own and others' well-being. A primary goal of this PDW will be to enhance participants' awareness of how they can become a source of positive energy for themselves and others through the course of conducting academic work. The PDW will begin with a brief introduction to the concepts of human energy and thriving at work and their relationship to well-being, followed by small group discussions in which participants reflect on and share when they have felt most energized about their academic work. Two leading scholars in related fields will then present their cutting-edge research on energy and thriving, generating a set of practical strategies to help participants find opportunities to make their daily academic work lives more sustainable and rewarding. Next, we will facilitate an action learning session, where participants will engage in a systematic discussion on how to become a positive source of energy for others. They will develop a personal plan for incorporating discussed energy-enhancing strategies in their daily lives and share them with other participants. The PDW will conclude with a summative discussion of key learning regarding energy, thriving and well-being.

Pre-registration is required for this session. To register online, please visit https://secure.aom.org/PDWReg. The deadline to register online is August 8, 2018.

We look forward to welcoming you!

    Best regards,

Ariane Froidevaux, Leicht-Deobald, Evgenia Lysova, Alexandra Gerbasi, & Chak Fu Lam
