I hope everyone saw the announcements and videos regarding this year's Michael Driver Best Symposium Award (see it HERE) and Arnon Reichers Best Student Paper Award (see it HERE).

Now, it's time to focus on our third award: the Best Overall Paper Award. Like the Best Symposium and Best Student Paper awards, our program chair selected three nominees based on reviewer ratings of all eligible paper submissions for this award. Then, a committee consisting of expert Careers Division members decided on a winner based on a predefined set of criteria related to, among others, novelty, rigor, and contributions to the field. Our committee members for this award were: Julia Richardson (chair), Ariane FroidevauxWolfgang Mayrhofer, and Daniel Spurk.

    The nominated papers were:

The Hen-Egg Problem of Informal Workplace Learning & Work Design: The Mediating Role of Job Crafting.
Authors: Julian Decius, Niclas Schaper, and Andreas Seifert (all University of Paderborn, Germany)

When the Stars Align: Career and Life Consequences of Calling
Authors: Jennifer Tosti-Kharas (Babson College, USA) and Soshana Dobrow (London School of Economics, UK)

Like Father, Like Son? The Relationship between Social Origin and Career Success – A Systematic Literature Review
    Author:
Julia Stapf and Maike Andresen (both University of Bamberg, Germany)

The winners of the 2021 Best Overall Paper Award are............

JENNIFER TOSTI-KHARAS AND SHOSHANA DOBROOW with their paper titled "WHEN THE STARS ALIGN: CAREER AND LIFE CONSEQUENCES OF CALLING."

Congratulations on winning this award, Jennifer and Shoshana! And, of course, also congratulations to the finalists for this award. Feel free to add your congratulations as a reply to this message. We will also be sharing content via our Careers Division social media challenges, so please follow our LinkedIn and Twitter pages!

Curious to hear more about the winning paper from the award winner and the committee chair? Then check out the video below! It's a bit longer than you're used to but it's worth it. :-) You can find more information about the session at the annual meeting in which Jennifer and Shoshana will present their paper HERE.
