Building on Gina's call for PDW submissions and as a member of the CAR Membership Committee, I wanted to offer some 'food for thought' that we previously gathered from a focus group of CAR members on how they'd like to see CAR offerings strengthened. (These suggestions may be just the push to get you to submit that CAR PDW you've been thinking about!!!).
As it relates to PDWs, the focus group suggested:
- More open PDW sessions with the express purpose of helping to improve draft papers - even separate sessions targeted at specific levels (e.g., PhD students, early career scholars, senior scholars) for paper improvement
- A 'Meet the Editors' panel including editors from top-ranked management, careers, HR, and careers-friendly journals
- A Sunday morning session, similar to the one offered by Positive Organizational Scholarship (POS) scholars, focused on a particular topic in a session that is very interactive, creative and experiential and in which people can also mention new careers-related books, conferences, AOM sessions, case studies, etc.
- More CAR PDW networking events, in addition to the CAR PDW social, to offer CAR members additional opportunities to easily connect with each other
- More PDWs with a practitioner-focus (e.g., panels, special topic discussion forums, etc.) to foster bridging between academics and practitioners which could even include co-sponsored sessions with the Consulting Division
- More PDWs on exciting and up-and-coming methods relevant to CAR researchers
Hope you find these ideas useful and we look forward to your submissions!!
All the best,
Rick

Subject: Call for PDW Submissions
Hello Careers people!
The AOM call for submissions has been posted. Here's our call for PDWs:
https://aom.org/annualmeeting/submission/call/car/pdw/
We'd like to use our PDW time to strengthen and expand our community, so please consider submitting proposals that will enable careers research (e.g., paper development workshops, or exploring methods or data for study careers), or other issues in our professional development (e.g. managing work/life balance issues, or navigating career transitions).
Please feel free to contact me if you have questions about submitting PDW proposals. I look forward to seeing your submission!
Best,
-Gina
