AOM 2024 Careers in the Rough PDW - Call for Manuscripts

The Careers Division of the Academy of Management is proud to offer junior (and more experienced) scholars the opportunity to get feedback on their careers-related manuscript from leading, senior careers scholars at the "Careers in the Rough" professional development workshop (PDW) at this year's Academy of Management meeting in Chicago (August 9-13, 2024).

Aims and Mentoring Groups. The aim of this workshop is to give career scholars the opportunity to receive feedback on their near final-form manuscript from eminent scholars in the Careers Division. Manuscripts should address a career-related topic, including career outcomes (e.g., success), career management, job mobility, employability, career shocks, work-family issues, dark side of careers, race, culture, and gender effects on careers, labor force diversity, and careers in a virtual world, among others. After manuscript acceptance, mentors will be paired with mentees based on the fit between the papers and the scholars' interests/areas of expertise. We strive for groups of four: two mentors and two mentees. Both mentors will give feedback on each manuscript, and we ask each mentee to read the other's manuscript. 

Meeting Format. The groups of four will meet for two hours to discuss both papers (around one hour per manuscript) in-person during the "Careers in the Rough" PDW at the AOM Conference (for further information, please consult the conference program in due course).

Manuscript submissions should be no more than 30-40 pages, including references, tables, and/or figures. Please also include in your manuscript submission:

1.      A title page, including author affiliations, a brief abstract, and 5-7 keywords
