Hello from the Academy of Management AOM Careers Division:
On behalf of Katja Wehrle:
The team is excited to roll out our Careers in the Rough Initiative (CiTR) which will take the form of a virtual workshop, inviting all careers scholars to send in near final-form manuscripts to get feedback from eminent scholars during a 1 to 2 hour mentoring session.
This year, we are proud to announce the mentors for the 2025 virtual session: Fida Afiouni, Jos Akkermans, Maike Andresen, Yehuda Baruch, Gina Dokko, Kimberly Eddleston, Danna Greenberg, Wolfgang Mayrhofer, Alex Newman, Julia Richardson, Bert Schreurs, Sherry Sullivan.
The workshop covers two tracks:
The first track invites participants to submit a near-final manuscript.
*The application requests a manuscript that is no more than 40 pages, including references, tables, and/or figures. Manuscripts should include a title page, with all authors and affiliations and an abstract.
*Participants are asked to include a maximum 250-word description of a dilemma, question, or concern that they would like to address during this workshop.
The second track, aimed at Ph.D. students, enables participants to submit a well-developed research proposal in the planning stage.
*The application requests a well-developed research proposal that includes a statement of the problem, theoretical framework, research methodology, and contribution of 12 to 40 pages, including references, tables, and/or figures. Research proposals should include a title page, with the Ph.D. student's and other collaborators' names and affiliations.
*Participants are asked to include a maximum 250-word description of a dilemma, question, or concern that they would like to address during this workshop.
Please note that all manuscripts and research proposals will be reviewed to ensure they adhere to the requirements.
What does the procedure look like? If you would like to participate, please complete the application form by March 28th. The application form is available here. Please also send your manuscript or research proposal as a PDF to katja.wehrle@psychol.uni-giessen.de
Applicants will be notified of acceptance and if accepted, matched with a mentor based largely on the fit between their paper and the scholars' interests/areas of expertise. Mentors and participants will then schedule an online session at a time suitable to discuss the manuscript. Each participant will receive feedback about the positive aspects of their work and be invited into dialogue about how their manuscript might be improved.
