During the past two weeks, we have already announced the first three Careers Division 2021 Award winners. If you didn't see them yet, you can check them out here:

Michael Driver Best Symposium Award Winners

Arnon Reichers Best Student Paper Award Winner

    Best Overall Paper Award Winners

We now know all the winners of the three conference-related awards. This means that we only have the two non-conference awards left, both of which we introduced last year. In this message, we will share this year's winner of the Careers Division Mid-Career Award. The process for this award was slightly different from the conference-related awards. Specifically, Careers Division members could nominate anyone they felt would be deserving of the mid-career award. The inclusion criterion was that someone would have obtained their PhD a maximum of twelve years ago (ideally at least eight years ago). Then, a committee consisting of last year's winner Shoshana Dobrow, last year's committee member Maike Andresen, and longstanding division member Jeffrey Greenhaus, decided a winner based on several predetermined criteria.

The winner of the 2021 Mid-Career Award is…… DANIEL SPURK! Daniel is a former representative-at-large of the Careers Division and a current Associate Editor for the Journal of Vocational Behavior. His list of impactful research is impressive, featuring, for example, a recent Journal of Management review paper about career success. The committee formulated it as follows:

"We believe that Daniel's cumulative scholarly contributions to the careers field exceed those of the other applicants at this stage of their careers. His research has consistently examined popular and emerging careers topics, and he has been at the forefront of research in areas such as employability, career success, and career sustainability. There has been an extensive number of citations to his work, which is not surprising because his work is of high quality on topics that capture the attention and interest of other careers scholars. Daniel also engages in the successful communication of his results to have a wider impact. Daniel has participated extensively in service activities to the Careers Division and is a member of several editorial review boards. We have no doubt that he will continue to be highly productive in the future."

Congratulations on winning the second-ever Careers Division Mid-Career Award, Daniel! Feel free to add your congratulations as a reply to this message. We will also be sharing content via our Careers Division social media challenges, so please follow our LinkedIn and Twitter pages!

In the video below, Daniel and Shoshana talk more about this award. Among other things, they discuss Daniel's purpose as a careers scholar, what sets him apart as a mid-career award winner, and his plans for future research in the field. Make sure to check it out!
