A BRICK-BY-BRICK PDW
TO INNOVATIVE RESEARCH METHODS
2024 Academy of Management Meeting, Chicago
Friday, August 9, 2024, 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM
Swisshotel Chicago in Arosa
Subscription deadline: July 20th, 2024 (12 spots maximum)
Objective of the PDW
While traditional qualitative research methods have advanced our understanding of organizational issues over time, they often rely on the linear logic inherent in language. This PDW encourages authors to explore alternative and innovative methods to further unpack new theories related to their research topics.
In line with recent calls for methodological pluralism (Langley et al., 2023; Bansal et al., 2018; Bansal & Corley, 2011; Beck et al., 2016; Rainbird & Rose, 2009; Winkler et al., 2023), we show how LSP as an innovative methodology can lead to (prospective) theory development in organizational studies (Gumusay & Reinecke, 2024). As such, we join a growing number of organizational scholars who call for unconventional approaches to theorizing and conducting research.
In general, this interactive PDW focuses on:
- Inspiring organizational scholars who wish to expand their repertoire of research methods by using LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® as a facilitating tool. The workshop will
focus on exploring the dynamics of identity work and identity threats.
- Considering how LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® in particular can be used for discussions in a variety of settings, such as
team building, strategy development, and classroom interactions.
- Exploring one's own work and nonwork identities and how to manage the (changing) relationships between them after experiencing job loss.
