Congratulations to all the finalists of the Arnon Reichers Best Student Paper Award!! This year's Chair-Elect is Denise Jepsen and Program Chair is Serge Da Motta Veiga. Submissions must have been a student paper or a dissertation paper within 3 years of degree, preferably single-authored. The committee generated ratings on novelty, innovative research methods, inspiring future careers research, contributing to career practice, and connecting with the Careers Division.

    The three nominees are:

How Working Long Hours before Personal Losses Affects Changes in Employee Well-Being via Emotions; Author: Claudia Rossetti, University of Mannheim

Pressure from Social Media: The Influence of Social Media Usage on Career Exploration and Well-being; Authors: Shiyu Zhou, Fudan School of Management, Fudan University; Yan Wu; Longfei Cui, Tongji University; Biya Ren, Glasgow University

The Miseducation of a Labor Market: When Labor Market Intermediaries Create Expectation Gaps; Authors: Abisola Coretta Kusimo, Stanford School of Engineering; Melissa Valentine, Stanford University

The committee with a panel of experts included Robert Kase (Chair), Emma Parry, Maria Tomprou, and Victor Chen.

    And the winner is…

Pressure from Social Media: The Influence of Social Media Usage on Career Exploration and Well-being; Authors: Shiyu Zhou, Fudan School of Management, Fudan University; Yan Wu; Longfei Cui, Tongji University; Biya Ren, Glasgow University

The panel noted several strengths: introduction of the concept of career-oriented social media that was guided by social comparison theory and facilitation of future research in an understudied yet relevant area, application of time-lagged design and moderated-mediation model, use of trade-offs and implications for social media users and graduate job seekers, and advice to focus on job information, instead of making comparisons.
